Jewell M Simmons, BSW, MSW, LCSW – is a proud member of the Roxbury community of Boston. Although she no longer resides there, that is her claim to “home”. Upon completing her education at Wheelock College in 2001, Ms. Simmons focused her career path in the field of domestic violence with Brigham and Women’s Hospital providing trauma informed clinical services on behalf of families, professionals and community providers. She has continued this worthy undertaking with the Department of Children and Families as a Domestic Violence Specialist since 2007. However, she looks forward to this being her last professional employment at the desk of some entity other than herself.
Jewell is the mother of 1 son, and the “Sugar” to her 2 grandbabies, Anna and August. Currently Ms. Simmons is crafting Hormones and High Heels into a brand that addresses the multi-faceted lives of women and girls at various stages of the life cycle. To meet this goal, she has created this blogging website and produces theme-based merchandise to complement the positive messaging which undergirds all of her writings. As a young child, unbeknownst to her, Jewell was gifted with a special ability to create beauty, inspiration, power, and magic through written word. As a woman she is now utilizing these attributes, life experiences, opportunities, and numerous other blessings to write light and love and prose and poetry and stories and anecdotes that will enrich and illuminate those who read her. Jewell’s bio is not yet complete because she is at last in the business of unveiling and unfolding the artistic treasures that reside within her. Enjoy!
